Commander's got it. Giants, I think, is going to be another year. That's not the best for them and Commander's got it for sure. And I could argue that you know. The spread should be over 6.5.
Speaker 2:Ooh, no.
Speaker 1:That's what I would take.
Speaker 2:Giants hey, they've got some weapons, so yeah.
Speaker 1:Well, they have one weapon.
Speaker 2:No, they've got weapons. They've got neighbors, they've got, they've got. They've got Russell. Okay, russell is a multiple-time pro bowler.
Speaker 1:All right, how long, like six years ago? You thought it was over.
Speaker 2:Oh man, come on, football season is here. We couldn't let you start the football season and not give you these picks. You know I'm going to dominate this guy. Oh no, no, got that thing wrong. Special, who you Got edition, let's go, let's go. This is former Chicago Bear, desmond Clark, and y'all hit me on many podcasts, but when y'all hit me on Pick'em Pros, y'all know it's all about family. This ain't just business. All right, ladies and gentlemen, welcome back. You know who it is. I am Derek Thompson.
Speaker 2:I'm Diego Thompson and who are we, the Pick'em Pros? We are the Pick'em Pros coming back at you in the house with a special episode of who you Got. Who you Got is not dead, apparently.
Speaker 1:Yeah, we're back. It's like Cam said when he came back as Panthers.
Speaker 2:That's right, we are back. We were not planning on doing a who you Got really this year, but we have some extra time. We're here in the studio. It's week one. We're super hyped about football. We've been going to a lot of games lately. We went to the state ECU game Thursday. We saw a guy, miles McCaleb, so we saw him play. So, yeah, we're in the football spirit. So we've got to give you our picks for week one. Man you ready? Oh yeah, I'm ready, let's do it. Yeah, all right. All right, you going to be a Panther homer this year?
Speaker 1:Maybe a little. Well, actually maybe not as much, since we traded Adam Thielen and doing a bunch of weird stuff, who knows?
Speaker 2:We'll see. I got to Hunter Renfro go.
Speaker 1:Yeah, I know Big losses, We'll see.
Speaker 2:We're going to see. Shout out to everybody Thanks for all you do for Pick'em Pros. We got a lot of fire coming at you this year. Shout out to our guy, Chris Henson, here in the building. Thanks for checking us out. My man, let's get into it. Let's go right into week one. Week one we're going to give you picks for all 16 games. We agree on 10. We did a quick look over. We agree on 10 of the games. We disagree on six games. All right, so let's go ahead and go with the 10 that we agree on. First we've got a Friday game. I didn't even realize there was a Friday game, so that's going to be cool. So we've got a Thursday, Friday, and then you've got your college on Saturday and then your Sunday, so it's going to be a fire weekend. But for Friday we've got our Kansas City Chiefs. We've got Travis, Kelsey and crew.
Speaker 1:They're going in to play the Chargers that should be a good game. I'm going with the Chiefs in that one, coming back off the Super Bowl loss, you know, I think they're hungry to get a win.
Speaker 2:Yeah, I agree. Yeah, I agree with you there, man. I think the Chiefs are going to have a good year this year. I think Mahomes is going to have a great season. I think Kelsey will actually do better. I think Kelsey will do better. I think this will be his last year. He's engaged now. He's ready to go out on the right note. I feel.
Speaker 2:I'm excited about this season. Harbaugh's got his troops ready, but I think the Chiefs are going to take care of business. The next game is Sunday that we agree on. We've got the Cincinnati Bengals traveling to Cincinnati to play the Shador Sanders Cleveland Browns.
Speaker 1:Who we got. We're going with the Bengals in this one. They got to stack some wins up early. I think they learned from last year when they went 0-3 to start the year off. I think, they're going to try and get as many wins as possible, because you never know how the defense is going to play. So a big game for Burrow and Chase and Bengals get the win.
Speaker 2:Yeah, they've got to get off to a great start this year. So they've been playing preseason, which they haven't done before. So a lot of people are picking Burrow to be MVP this year because of the numbers he put up last year. So, yeah, that defense is suspect, but this is a win they've got to get. So, yes, cincinnati Bengals yeah, and I think the Bengals are a five-and-a-half-point favorite. So, yeah, bengals are going to take care of business Game three Miami Dolphins are traveling to Indy to play the Colts. The Colts are a one-and-a-half-point favorite, actually, in this game. All right, but we agree, who do we have?
Speaker 1:We got the Dolphins I mean the Colts. They got Daniel Jones as their quarterback. I think that's pretty much all you need to know about that. And the Dolphins it's early in the year. Nobody's got hurt yet. So you know they still have all their speedsters and you know they got Tua throwing the ball to them and Devon A Change should have a solid year, at least at the beginning. So yeah, I think the Dolphins got it for sure.
Speaker 2:Yeah, I need the Dolphins to do a little something this year. I've got Tua as one of my quarterbacks in one of the deep leagues, like one of the teams where we have like 20 teams. I had to get Tua. I need him to do well. I've got Tyreek in most of my leagues. He slipped down to me so I need Tyreek to do his thing. I think they will get off to a good start. Daniel, daniel Jones at quarterback, like you said, I don't know I would have gone ahead and wrote with Richardson and tried to develop him a little more. They're not going anywhere. All right. Game four We've got Breonna's Arizona Cardinals traveling to New Orleans to play the Saints. The Cardinals are like what a six-and-a-half yeah, six-and-a-half point favorite.
Speaker 1:So are you going with the favorite or are you going with the favorite? Are you going with the underdog? Yeah, I'm definitely going with the cardinals this week. Um, the saints, they don't no quarterback, you know. Just so many too many questions for me to rattle off in the time we have.
Speaker 2:So, yeah, I'm just gonna go with the cardinals, for sure yeah, yeah, they lost derrick carr yeah, late, you know, to his season ending injury. So, yeah, yeah, it's definitely Kyler. Kyler's got to do it this year. So, yeah, I hope the carton is going to take care of it. Yeah, they definitely got it. Ooh, okay, game five man, this is going to be a good one. I know the NFL hates they put this one at 1 o'clock. Yeah, so Steelers travel to New Jersey to play the Jets MetLife Stadium. Believe the Jets MetLife Stadium. Believe the Steelers are two and a half. Yeah, steelers are a two and a half point favorite in this game. Mike Tomlin has never had a losing season, so one o'clock game.
Speaker 2:Sunday you think this is going to be the first losing season. Possibly, possibly, it could be Really good, all right, what you think, chris Steelers all day Steelers.
Speaker 1:Yeah, yeah, I'm taking the Steelers too.
Speaker 2:Yeah, Steelers.
Speaker 1:Because they're playing the Jets and Justin Fields and all that. Yeah, I'll go with the Steelers for sure.
Speaker 2:Yeah, man, yeah, I'm going to have to go Steelers. I have to go Steelers with you as well. I was thinking Jets, I wanted to say Jets, but yeah, steelers, tomlin, they always start off well. Their defense is going to play very well. They always start off well. The defense is going to play very well and I believe the Jets will struggle to score still.
Speaker 2:So that will be the difference. They'll start off 1-0, and, yeah, tomlin will most likely keep that streak alive. We'll see, we'll see. All right, we'll see Aaron Rodgers plays. All right, all right. So the sixth game. We've got the Giants at the Commanders. Okay, commanders are a six-and-a-half-point favorite. You got Jaden Daniels, probably be more honestly. Okay, Jaden Daniels is going into his big sophomore year. He's going to be smiling. He's got his receiver McLaurin. So man they're stacked and ready to go.
Speaker 1:One NFC East team paid their guy. So, yeah, yeah, the Commanders got it. Giants. I think it's going to be another year. That's not the best for them, and Commanders got it for sure. And I could argue that you know. The spread should be over 6.5.
Speaker 2:Ooh, no.
Speaker 1:That's what I would take.
Speaker 2:No, I wouldn't go that far Now. Okay, we know week one, there are a lot of upsets in week one. A lot of people don't play preseason. You know, jaden, is there going to be a little bit of a sophomore slump. Lauren, is he ready? Is he going to, you know, pull something at some point? He didn't play preseason. And the Giants, hey, they've got some weapons.
Speaker 1:So uh, yeah, I well, they have one weapon.
Speaker 2:No, they've got weapons, they've got neighbors, um, they've got, uh, let's see They've got a Russell. Okay, russell is a multiple time pro bowler.
Speaker 1:All right, how long Like?
Speaker 2:six years ago. Hey, the guy the Cowboys got, you know, is a couple-time pro bowler and he wasn't a pro bowler last year. So you know, once you're a pro bowler, you know they can't take that away from you All right, you know All right man, it's like me being a fantasy football champ. I've got that on my resume, you know.
Speaker 1:So now, when you mention me, you have to say that my time's gone. I'm winning this year. I'm trying to win at least one this year.
Speaker 2:That's my goal All right, we're going to see yeah, we're going to see. Seventh game. We've got the Panthers. Carolina Panthers are going to Jacksonville to play Travis Hunter's Jaguars. Okay, I was actually just going to go against you, just to do it. But you know what? I have too much integrity with my picks.
Speaker 1:We all know you want to pick the Panthers. You know you can't afford this loss. Okay. I don't know about that you lost last year. When was the last time you won like a season?
Speaker 2:I won the first one, the first one.
Speaker 1:So this is like the fourth season of who you got right. Yeah, yeah, yeah, technically so it's been like three years. It's crazy yeah, two.
Speaker 2:So last year you ran. So season three, you ran away with it. You did your thing last year. I have to give you props, really did. I gotta give you props on that. Yeah now season two, season two you tied with Dez. So Dez was with us, you tied with him.
Speaker 1:Yeah, but I'm talking about you. So you haven't won since season one.
Speaker 2:Well, see I was focused on other things. I was focused on, you know, growing the show. You know things. I have a lot of responsibility, so I was focused on all that, yeah. But now things are stable so we all know you need every single game you can get. Yeah, but anyways, get back to the panthers.
Speaker 1:Yeah, I definitely got the panthers, even though they got rid of a few key receivers and, and just the last few days, um, yes, I still think they have enough to beat the jags. Travis hunter try to get, try to guard T-Mac. That's not going to happen. T-mac could probably get 100 yards, a touchdown or two. I'd just totally dominate on him. Bryce Young, I could go all day, but we don't have a day.
Speaker 2:I'll just leave it at that. Panthers for sure, I agree with you Panthers are going to get this win. I hope they get this win. Yeah, yep, yep. Chris says they're going to win as well. So we all agree on this Panthers are going to get the win. All right, carolina, we'll see if we're being the Carolina homers or not.
Speaker 1:All right Nice.
Speaker 2:So eighth game okay, that we agree on. We agree on 10 out of these 16. So we got the Tennessee Titans play the Broncos. Bo Nix man a lot of people picking him to do big things After that solid opening season. Broncos are what A eight-and-a-half point favorite Good gracious At home.
Speaker 1:I mean, the Titans did go like 2-15 last year, but they do have Cam Ward now. Cam Ward, bo Nix, he should. I mean, I'm not projecting him to do big things, maybe just about what he did last year, yeah, yeah. So I'm sticking with the Broncos. They got a really good defense. They got solid QB and the home field advantage. Also, cam. Ward's probably going to need a few games to adjust to the league and his O-line and to the speed of the O-line, so yeah, yeah, I agree.
Speaker 2:I think people are rating the Denver defense very high. A lot of people are saying best defense in the NFL.
Speaker 1:I don't think I think they're one of the best, but I definitely don't think they're the best. I agree with that, all right, okay, definitely don't think they're the best.
Speaker 2:I agree with that. All right. Okay, you can book this. All right. Ninth game we've got the Houston Texans, diego's Texans, led by CJ Stroud, all right Going to LA to play the Rams. The Rams are a two-and-a-half point favorite. Who we got in this one, diego.
Speaker 1:Well, we all got the Rams. This is easy, easy, easy, no-brainer, just like the obvious pick right here. Wow yeah, with the addition of Devontae and Puka.
Speaker 2:Yeah.
Speaker 1:Combined with learning game, stafford QB and Sean McVay coaching. I think they're one of the contenders for the NFC actually, so I think they definitely got this game against CJ.
Speaker 2:Sure, I love how the Rams they have a young defense now they definitely have transformed that team from an older team to a younger team. I love how the defense was looking. They really could have taken that game from the Eagles and gotten to the Super Bowl last year.
Speaker 2:So that was really close. But yeah, this is going to be a good one. So I mean the Texans they definitely underperformed last year, so they're going to try to get out of the gates strong. But yeah, I think the Rams take care of business this week and the last game that we agree on. We've got to check with the other pick and pros here, but between you and me, we've got the Baltimore Ravens, we've got C Pay Pains Ravens going to Buffalo to play the Bills. The Bills are one-and-a-half-point favorite.
Speaker 2:All right the hard-knock Bills Okay At home one-and-a-half-point favorite, but who do we have in this one?
Speaker 1:We got the Ravens. Is this a regular season? Yeah, it's thear's time to shine. He's probably about to win 100th straight MVP. And yeah, it's their time their time to get their revenge from last year in the regular season Yep.
Speaker 2:Yeah, yeah, I actually agree. I mean the Ravens are stacked and the Bills I love the Bills, big fan of the Bills. But I'm concerned they're going to actually take a step back this year. Last year I said everybody was underrating the bills. Um, I saw that they had some weapons in that receiving core but, um, I don't like some of the moves that they've made. They've made some good moves defensively, but offensively I don't think they're going to be as strong and the AFC is loaded.
Speaker 1:It is. I don't know if they have the pieces to go as far as they did last year. If the Ravens decide to step it up, they have the tools always, and I think Cincinnati could make some noise if they just stop messing around on defense. For sure, for sure.
Speaker 2:And week one, lamar's probably going to scramble a little more than he normally would. So, yeah, they're going to try to come out the gates and get a win. So, ravens, get this one. You can book it. All right, man. So now we're going to get to the six games that we disagree on. All right Time to go to these. So somewhat island, although it's two of us. Yeah, yeah right, but the games where we disagree.
Speaker 1:First game we've got the tampa bay bucks traveling to atl.
Speaker 2:Yeah, play the falcons. Uh, tampa is about a two and a half point favorite at time of recording. So who do you have, man?
Speaker 1:I got the falcons. Um, I I actually think the bucks are the better, a better team, but but these NFC South games can go either way, especially between the Bucs and the Falcons. These are two teams that kind of go back and forth. Usually it's 1-1. Yeah, with it being the ATL, I think it's going to be hype out there and yeah.
Speaker 2:I think the Falcons got it. Man, I'm going Bucs All right and. I'm shocked you're not going Bucs here. All right, you was talking all that stuff about the quarterback.
Speaker 1:All right, I think the better team is just like. These NSC South games are going to go either way. Okay, big robberies out there.
Speaker 2:Really yeah, really Okay.
Speaker 1:That's when the Panthers started getting involved. Yeah.
Speaker 2:Now you're really tripping. Nah, man, I'm going Tampa, tampa. This is where I gain a game, all right. So I wasn't really paying much attention to picks last two years, but now this year I'm back, all right, just like week one. So I'm going to go ahead and get a lead, take care of business and take this one, take this one to the bank.
Speaker 1:Bucks got it. You need to look, man.
Speaker 2:All right. So the second. Again, we disagree on six games. So the second game we disagree on we've got the Raiders, all right, traveling to New England to play the Patriots all right. Patriots are a two-and-a-half-point favorite at home, all right.
Speaker 1:So I'm sure you're going with the favorite. You just look at the line. I am. Yeah, I am going with the favorite. I actually think the. I thought the Raiders would be the favorite, though they got a good team this year, but I got the Patriots. I like what they did. The offseason Got Mike Vrabel as the coach, stephon Diggs and who's it? Mac Hollins too. They got some good receivers. I hate the.
Speaker 2:Bills, let him go, they need him.
Speaker 1:They got some good receivers Got I forget the name they got Ohio State running back. The second round is really good. Yeah yeah, drake, may might step it up in week two, and I think Vrabel is going to help the defense too, and it's a home game, so I mean that home field advantage should be pretty good for them. So yeah, I got the Patriots Okay.
Speaker 2:Yeah, no, that home field only meant something.
Speaker 1:That was all they still got a good fan base. No, that was never. What's the Raiders' home field advantage, being in Vegas? True, true.
Speaker 2:No man that was. Trust me. There was not a New England fan to be found. Back in the day when you know what I'm saying when I was living in Chicago and the Bears beat them down right, there was no fan base, no, nothing. Then Tom Brady showed up, won six Super Bowls and totally different situation, nothing. Then Tom Brady showed up, won six Super Bowls and totally different situation.
Speaker 1:Maybe Drake May can change things.
Speaker 2:Yeah, good luck with that. I don't know about that. But yeah, man, I'm going to go, raiders, raiders, like you said. You thought they were the favorite. They should have been the favorite, so I'm going to go ahead and snatch this one. So that's two. I'm going to be up 2-0.
Speaker 2:All right, yep, see what I'm talking about. Alright, okay, next one, third one. Here we got the 49ers Christian McCaffrey, 49ers, alright traveling to Seattle to play the Seahawks. The Niners are a two and a half point favorite, alright. So, uh, you sticking with the favorite.
Speaker 1:Uh, no, I'm gonna go with the underdog in this one. Um, yeah, again, it's sort of like the nfc south, like nfc west. Games can go either way, because a lot of the teams are kind of evenly matched there at this point. Um, and the niners, they're. They're not what they used to be back in the day, I think. Well, not back in the day, but like two years ago, right. Um, yeah, mccaff, but I do expect a big year for mccaffrey though. But like purdy just got paid and I'm still not really sure about him, yeah, I don't know about that. And the Seahawks they got home field advantage. They got Sam Donald at QB, they got a few good receivers in JSN and Cooper Cup.
Speaker 1:Yeah, so yeah, I'm going to get rolling with them.
Speaker 2:Okay, all right, all right. Well, man, again disagree. I'm going with the 49ers. All right, they had an off year last year, but they'll be a little better this year, enough to definitely take care of business with the Seahawks. And Seahawks will be making a coaching change, uh, next year really, yeah, all right.
Speaker 1:Yeah, yeah, they're gonna fall short. Just get this coach, like a year or two ago yeah, yep but you haven't done anything wrong.
Speaker 2:I mean, no, no, but see, they will underperform yet again and again. The easiest person to blame is the coach, so that that's what'll happen. Yeah, watch, it's just like the bears every two years with chicago bears they either it's the quarterback's fault or it's the coach's fault, and they just rotate every two years. So, uh, yeah, man, same thing. All right, okay, fourth game out of six that we disagree on, we've got the Minnesota Vikings traveling to Chi-Town to play the Bears. All right, minnesota is a one-and-a-half point favorite. Who you got in this one?
Speaker 1:I'm going with the Vikings. I think JJ McCarthy's in for a big year coming off the injury. They got a good defense, good receivers. Adam Thielen should help them while jordan addison is out with from suspension.
Speaker 2:So, uh, yeah, go with them. All right, man, oh man, it's too much riding on this man. Chicago, caleb williams he's, you know, stepping in to a big role this year. He's got the um, he's got the new coach all right, coordinator came over from the lines, yeah, and yeah, he had an interesting camp. But I think they're going to step up and show everybody that they're about to have a much better year and they'll be probably third, I think. Actually, minnesota finishes last.
Speaker 1:Really. Yeah, I'm still kind of concerned with Chicago. I don't really know. This training camp looks a little iffy, I think.
Speaker 2:Chicago's third, I think actually Packers Lions. I mean we'll kind of get to that next, but you know they'll be one and two, and then you've got the Bears and Vikings battling out for three and four.
Speaker 1:Yeah, yeah, I think that's like it's kind of stacked up between like two tiers Lions and Packers are top, top tier and bears and like they're still good, but like they're right, lower tier for sure for sure.
Speaker 2:Okay, all right. So you've got the um in that game. So you got the, you got the vikings and I've got the bears. Yeah, okay, all right, yeah, okay. So the fifth game here. Oh man, we got the detroit lions. We were just talking about this. The Detroit Lions are traveling to Green Bay to play Micah Parsons' Packers. All right, so, man, you know, left the Cowboys. He's there, so there's no way you can pick against the Packers.
Speaker 1:I'm picking against them. Yeah, micah Parsons is going to have all this hype, all this anticipation and is not going to get past that Detroit O-line. Or to Jared Goff no, I'm rolling with Detroit. They got the most balanced team in the NFL and I think they're winning the Super Bowl, so of course I'm picking them.
Speaker 2:Oh man, you know I think the Lions. I love the Lions Family. You know, we know Detroit family's watching, so I don't want to get in trouble with this here, but they missed a big opportunity two years ago. That was a big opportunity.
Speaker 2:I think they got the formula now I don't know, man. I think they're going to take a step back this year. I do not see them getting to the Super Bowl and I think this game is going to show some of the holes that they have and I think they're quite as balanced as people think and then, losing both coordinators, this game is going to expose a lot.
Speaker 1:Eagles lost both coordinators.
Speaker 2:Yeah, you know what? That's a great point. I give you that, but this does not feel the same. This doesn't feel the same. Yeah, I think they're going to take a step back. We're going to see. So yeah, this could. This game could determine who wins between the two of us. We're going to see.
Speaker 1:Are you talking about overall? Yeah, this week.
Speaker 2:Yeah, this week, this week, oh, that's me then. I'm winning Confident in that.
Speaker 1:See.
Speaker 2:I got to break your streak man, I got to break your streak, I got to take some of that confidence out.
Speaker 1:Yeah well, I mean, I won two years in a row.
Speaker 2:You did, you did, but again, like I said, I won the first one. You know what?
Speaker 1:I mean First one like three.
Speaker 2:That was like three years ago, that one, so that first one counted for so much and just kind of ride that one for a minute. But now again, like I say, I'm focusing, I'm training. You know what I'm saying. Me and Kobe we've been in the gym. You know what I'm saying. We're doing our, I'm ready, we're doing our thing man.
Speaker 2:Ready man, all right, okay. Well, let's get to the last one, the last game that we disagree. It's the Dallas Cowboys traveling to Philly to play the Eagles. Oh man, okay. So how could we possibly disagree on this one? The Eagles are a seven-and-a-half point favorite. Who?
Speaker 1:you got. I got the Eagles. I mean the Cowboys. I thought it would be a better game. I would have picked the Eagles even if the Cowboys hadn't had Micah. But with Micah being gone and with all the drama that's going to surround them and the fan base, and all that happening so close to the start of the season.
Speaker 2:I think that's just going to make it even more in Philly's favor. Man, you know, see a lot of people, especially the fan base in Dallas. They're down right now, everybody's down. They let Parker Michael Parsons go, everybody's down. They let you know Parker Michael Parsons go, so everybody's down. You know Cowboys fans, they don't have the chest puffed out right now. Everybody's kind of hot. But we know how Cowboys fans are. All they need is a little something, just a little crack. Okay, so Cowboys are going to shock the world, win week one and then all the fans are going to come out playing Super.
Speaker 1:Bowl. If they win week one, then yeah, that's expected, but like it's not happening, that's not happening.
Speaker 2:Yes, yes, it will happen. Watch, watch. All right, we'll see I guess I can see it to the future. All right, cool man. Well, man, like I said, this was fun, Just kind of going back going through week one in the new studio, so we'll do this from time to time.
Speaker 2:I know we've been getting a lot of requests to give our picks, so we'll definitely do this from time to time when we can and let everybody know. So, hey, tune in, keep supporting subscribe, like share, and we're also going to be starting up that app too, the Sleeper app.
Speaker 2:So we'll have a special Pick'em Pro Sleeper app where you can jump in and just compete again. It's all for fun, not sports betting or anything, but we do, from time to time, pick causes that we support based on our picks. So if you have a cause that you want us to learn about, let us know and we'll definitely check them out. All right, man, all right. All right, we'll get to our next show. Hey, let's do it. Yeah, we got to talk to Kobe man.
Speaker 1:Yeah.
Speaker 2:Yeah, southern wake Academy Next up. Make sure you check that show out. That show is out now as well. All right, until then, to Morris Jordan, we'll be right back. Thank you, you.
