And I'm also I'm sorry, but that light-skinned boogeyman up in Kansas City. Okay, those knees get a little shaky when he comes around. And until you handle that boogeyman in Kansas City, I cannot in good conscience vote for you to get that MVP. Until you get over that light-skinned man in Kansas City.
Speaker 2:How would Shosh Allen face that light-skinned boogeyman?
Speaker 1:What are we doing? He beat him.
Speaker 3:He beat him, he beat him in the regular season.
Speaker 1:All right, ladies and gentlemen, welcome back. You know who it is. I am Derek Thompson, and I'm Diego Thompson and I'm Christopher Davis. And who are we? The Pick'em Pros? We are the Pick'em Pros coming back at you in the house with a special episode of who you Got, father-son Dynamic Duo and our main man, christopher Davis. How you doing, my man, I'm doing great. How are you guys doing?
Speaker 2:How was your Christmas man.
Speaker 1:Christmas was great. Christmas was fantastic. Happy New Year to everybody. This is the last show of the year. It's been a fantastic year, man. How you doing, Diego.
Speaker 5:Doing good. Panthers win last week, so you know that's always good, you know.
Speaker 1:Yeah, yes, yes, good man. Well, hey, a couple quick shout outs. First of all, thank you for checking us out. Make sure you like and subscribe, if you have not already. You're in for a fire show. We've got nfl week 17. We're gonna hit all the games. Give you our no-brainers. We're going to also go to our Island Games. That's going to be fun. The games we disagree on, we're going to dive into this MVP race. It's basically down between Josh Allen and Lamar Jackson. So I can't wait.
Speaker 1:We got some people that's been flip-flopping y'all, so I'm not going to say who, all right, but we're gonna get into that. We're already starting. We'll get into that. And uh, nba, did they lose christmas to the nfl? Did the nfl steal christmas? We're gonna talk about that. And man, our fantasy football showdown. The trophy is here. We're down to the wire. We got the final two teams and we're gonna have them join us for a segment for some trash talk. So that's going to be so fun. We got Silas from Canada. We got David Cook, dc, representing Georgia. We'll be in the building and we're going to have some fun, fun trash talk between them.
Speaker 1:But before we get in, it got a special shout-out, special love to some of our newest subscribers family. We've got Mashika, we've got Trey, we've got Lashara and we have Garrett from Winston-Salem family some of our newest subscribers who are spending some time with them today. Love you guys. Special shout out to my cousin Trey. These are his beads. He let me borrow his beads, so I'm wearing these. So thank you, trey, love you, man, appreciate you, my man, and just so excited to rep for them. And they also gave us these special Happy New Year straws, party straws, so we're in a very festive mood. So thank you, fam, for that. We appreciate you and love you for that. All right, well, hey, fellas, y'all ready for a fire show? Yes, all right, let's get into it, man. So let's start off. We've got um the nba. Did they lose christmas to the nfl, diego? What was your take on this man?
Speaker 5:yeah, it's looking like it. It's looking like they're losing christmas to nfl. I mean, like the nfl, their ratings were um five times with the NBA, got almost five times what the NBA got, yes, and the games weren't even that great. So that just kind of shows how much they're kind of taking over. So, yeah, I think NFL is taking over Christmas. Yeah, I think they're taking over. What do you?
Speaker 1:think Chris.
Speaker 2:I mean I think that the NBA overall had the better slate, chris. I mean I think that the nba overall had the better slate. But unfortunately when you have beyonce, you have like four playoff teams on for christmas. Obviously people are gonna tune in. So I do think that the deal with netflix to expand kind of shows that roger's not playing around anymore. He's like nah, we really gonna be pushing this. So I'm very excited for basically what comes of this new deal with Netflix and see if there's more streaming deals. But I am, I don't know. I think the NBA, I think LeBron and staff held it down for him, but it's still the Beyonce of it all kind of sealed the deal for how well the NFL was going to do.
Speaker 1:Yeah, a lot of people were happy with the Beyonce performance. I'm not going to speak on it because you know we're not quite big enough to deal with the backlash from going against the what's the group, the Beehive, yeah the Beehive. So I'm not going to, on record, say anything bad about Beyonce and the Beehive, but I do feel like the NFL is stealing it from the NBA, especially on Wednesday.
Speaker 6:Like.
Speaker 1:OK, christmas, you know, obviously is falling on every day. So Sunday, I get that, saturday, monday, but Wednesday, really. So you know, they really flex their muscles there. And then the NBA didn't do themselves themselves any, you know, uh didn't give themselves any help by, in my opinion, putting stephan lebron in that prime time spot. I get it, they're the, you know, still the face. But that's, that's the problem with the nba is they still have not turned to the new guard, um okc, best team in the nba, and they're not on at all. Ant-man, who's probably got the most charisma out of anybody, not on, it's just interesting.
Speaker 1:Wimby, who you know definitely has next is on at noon in a spot when everybody's still asleep. Just interesting. What do you got to say, chris?
Speaker 2:My whole thing. I believe that the NBA has kind of given up on their push for young players over these past few years.
Speaker 2:Just because of the stuff that's happened with said young players. I mean the push that there was for Zion Williamson in 2018, 2019, when he was coming out of Duke and everybody was losing their minds saying, oh, he's going to be the best player in the league. And then we see that doesn't necessarily go well. You see how they try to push jaw and you see how big jaw is on social media and then you know all the mess that jaws had with the whole. We're not going to speak on it, but if you know, you know.
Speaker 2:And then we have anthony edwards and then losing to the mavericks in very dramatic fashion. It feels like they haven't had the opportunity to truly push that new guard. It kind of like focus on those very new and talented players. I feel like, especially like with the celtics ring, that definitely should have shown us that they didn't care too much for their younger players because immediately we focus on lebron, steph and katie for the olympics. This is like the best young core of two players all of a sudden finally breaking through, winning their their championship.
Speaker 2:And we heard nothing about that after the summer. So I'm not mad if the Celtics want to start being a dynasty winning, because I feel like we disrespected them a little. We just after this offseason based off how well Jason Tatum and Jalen Brown both played. So I really think they've given up on it because they're like okay, we got to focus on the retirement tours of these guys instead of just focusing on their new guard, which kind of worries me because I don't know which new young players they're really gonna like try to have to take those spots okay, okay, now that that's a very interesting take.
Speaker 1:That that's a good take. That's a good take. They've given up on the, the new guard and you know, had some tries and failures and are just going to stick it out with the old guard until they retire.
Speaker 5:Any final comments from you, diego, on that uh, yeah, I wish, I wish we saw OKC and SGA. That would have been cool because hence the best team in the league. And uh, yeah, we could have put them on over. You know the Sixers, the Knicks, or you know any of these other teams with older players that aren't even that great to be honest. They aren't even some of the top teams anymore. Yeah, that's really all I got to say on that.
Speaker 1:Good point, good takes there. It was also interesting before we transitioned to the NFL. Ant Ant did flex on Luka Well, not on luca, so that was kind of the point. So they were able to hold the mavericks off right the other day, but uh, conveniently when luca was out. Now luca's out for a month, but kind of like man, you know, I I wish I could have seen that with luca there. So I don't know if that's fool's gold or not.
Speaker 5:I think it is. Yeah, I think it is Because early in the game, like I watched the beginning of the game, mavericks were leading and then Luka goes out down and then Ant starts going crazy. When Luka gets out it hits a few shots and then he's flexing and talking trash, regular Ant stuff. But it's like man, you weren't doing that when Luka was in there Right, yeah, they didn't be doing that when they? Don't have all their guys.
Speaker 1:Yeah, wasn't doing that. It's kind of like on Friday, you know, people talking junk when Deebo's not around, you know, which kind of reminds me of somebody else in another league. But we'll get to that later. Anyway, we'll get to that later. Anyway, we'll get to that later. Okay, all right. So any oh.
Speaker 1:So I got one thing to say here. So, questions we know a lot of people are watching and whatnot, and we've had some fans that definitely you know we guys. You guys put a lot of comments out there and we love your comments. Please keep the comments coming, but we can't here on the live show, we can't see all the comments, so we're not able to acknowledge the comments. So the comments are for everyone else watching. If you would like to engage with us during the show, please ask a question and we will make sure that we answer your questions. So if you have a question, you want to engage with us, put that in the comments and we'll be sure to answer that. So we had one particular fan that was very disappointed that we didn't get to acknowledge some of his comments. So please just put a question in and we will be able to answer that.
Speaker 1:So, with that said, summer, do we have any questions that we need to know? Okay, no questions right now. So, again, you want us to acknowledge you? Please put a question in and we will acknowledge. All right. Okay, cool, so let's move on. Let's preview the NFL Week 17. While we're doing this, we're going to recap some of the games that already happened. Man, we have the Kansas City Chiefs. The NFL and the Kansas City Chiefs have taken over that division. They beat Russell Wilson and the Steelers handily on Netflix with a clean stream. What's your thoughts on that game in the state of the Kansas City Chiefs?
Speaker 5:Diego Just Red Chiefs doing Chief things, refs throwing their flags. I saw the second DBs were touching wide receivers. I was seeing multiple flags go out. It was a flag fest in that game, for sure. But hey, they pulled it through. They did what they do. Yeah, nothing shocking in that game.
Speaker 2:Okay. So my mistake is the fact that the Kansas City Chiefs are yet again rounding into form. I feel that like it's very scary seeing how well Mahomes played homes played because again it turned back to the clock to like mbp my homes with all the touchdowns he was throwing, kind of getting through all of his reads. Basically, travis kelsey, you know, doing his whole turn the turn the clock back thing, you know, breaking tony gonzalez like receiving touchdown record. So I'm I'm very worried about this three pete.
Speaker 2:I'm not gonna lie, because somehow, some way, regardless of how we feel about like the rest of the teams of the afc, there's something to be said about how patrick mahomes and the chiefs play in the playoffs. And we can talk about the refs all we want, but during every single super bowl run, yes, I, he has a moment where you're just like okay, dude, you're about to take this game over. I'm very excited to see what happens if somebody's able to knock them off. I feel like earlier this season we could say it was just the evil magic or all this stuff.
Speaker 2:But now it's like, okay, they've definitely turned a corner, they're starting to look a little scary now.
Speaker 1:The three-peat, I mean, if you asked me before the season I would have said there's no way they're going to three-peat. There's no way, no how they were lucky to win last year. Now, man, I still say they're not going to three-peat. But man, it's looking shaky.
Speaker 5:It's looking shaky and it's looking scary. I believe it's looking shaky, it's looking shaky. It's looking scary. I believe in uh of the teams.
Speaker 1:I believe in alan, I believe in the lions, yeah, yeah, yeah, we'll see. And so, dc, we see you backstage. Man, happy to see you. So we're gonna be bringing you out shortly, uh, after we pass the uh no-brainers, we'll be getting the fancy football to see. Dc's ready, he's ready into it, man. So we can't wait to. Can't wait to bring you on. So we know you can hear us. We just want to acknowledge you, let you know you're in the right place, so we'll bring you out. We'll bring you out in a minute. All right, oh man. But yeah, chiefs are looking. Let's go into the Ravens Baltimore Ravens visiting CJ Stroud and the Houston Texans. This is a segment that we know. Diego is very happy and excited about.
Speaker 1:Diego, let's just give it to you. Man, how do you think Baltimore Ravens look against those Houston Texans?
Speaker 5:Yeah, baltimore, they look good against another bad Lamar. Had a great game against another bad lamar. Uh, had a great game against another bad team, so congrats to him. And cj did not look great, scored zero points on offense. The only only points they got was from the defense and the safety. So, uh, yeah, cj didn't look that great bryce, by the way, he won and his offense scored over 30 and he got three touchdowns.
Speaker 1:Just saying Okay, bryce won how many touchdowns?
Speaker 5:Three.
Speaker 1:How many interceptions? Zero, zero. Okay, you said it with a lot of confidence.
Speaker 5:He had the best cute quarterback rating last week also he did.
Speaker 1:Did you pick the Panthers? See, it was a part of my strategy, all right.
Speaker 5:I had. If they won, I was going to be happy.
Speaker 6:If they lost my pick was going to be right.
Speaker 1:So that's how you got to do it.
Speaker 5:That's how you got to do it. That's how you got to do it.
Speaker 1:You were clearly happy. You were on social media holding the Welch's grape champagne bottle, so celebrate like you won the championship when you didn't even pick them to win but somebody was a Christmas miracle. So somebody picked him to win and put some money on it.
Speaker 5:Congrats man. Who's leading the pick still. Who's leading?
Speaker 1:Well, that's another. So you're moving to go, we're not. We're not talking about that right now. All right, all right.
Speaker 2:What's your take on on uh ravens texas game? I think that, yeah, cj strats having like an all-time uh sophomore slump. I, he looks night and day from the guy we used to see and again the ravens just did what rate how? Basically they've been progressing since the buy. They've just dominated more, focusing on running the ball. I, I mean Derek Henry's doing his thing, you got Mark Andrews starting to round out and for for making all his plays. Dave flower is still doing his thing. So I and I'll get to my take later.
Speaker 2:But yeah, lamar, you know, proves to be special again. So you know, I'm I'm very excited to very excited with Baltimore Ravens and you know, with the Texas, I feel a little bit, I feel a little bit unsure. I feel like they're going to be one and done in the playoffs. Cj, they got to address that offensive line. It's, it's weird. I know that they're down two of their best receivers, but we see what Bryce Young is doing with, you know, not a player at the caliber of Nico Collins. Let's keep it real. I love Chuba Hubbard, but actually, no, chuba Hubbard is better than Joe Mixon this year. I'm not even going to entertain that. But before this season would you say that Bryce had the better situation than what CJ had. I don't think anybody would.
Speaker 2:I'm just saying Bryce, since he's been benched, since he's come back, has definitely performed better than cj shroud, which you know. We'll see, basically, how the rest of their careers go.
Speaker 1:It's a very intriguing storyline going into the end of the season so, diego, this is just a spur of the moment question how many wins would the carolina panthers have if they had nico collins?
Speaker 5:They would have more than what they do now. That's all I got to say.
Speaker 1:Would they win the division?
Speaker 5:Yeah, definitely They'd win the division. And then if Bryce you know, Bryce has been playing the way that he had all year. Well, he was benched, which then caused him to play great. If we had Nico, I think we'd win the division.
Speaker 1:Okay For sure, All right Got you, got you, okay, all, if we had nico, we I think we went into vision, okay for sure, all right, got you, got you okay, all right, all right, just just something I wanted to wanted to ask there. Okay, well, hey, let's get to our no-brainers. We got a lot to get to. We got to get to our no-brainers. And then we've got to bring uh silas and uh david on and talk about their fantasy football showdown. So they also owe me and diego a lot of uh credit here. So we're gonna we're gonna bring up why they owe us some credit here when we bring them on but all right let's get to our no-brainers, man Diego.
Speaker 5:Start us off with the first one, all right first one we got the Chargers going to New England to play the Pats and we all got the Chargers. Uh, the Patriots, they're just not great. Uh, they're 3 and 12 and the Chargers Chargers are fighting for a playoff spot, so they're going to try and win as many games as they can. So, yeah, easy going with them.
Speaker 2:Not much to say. You know the fighting hardballs are going to do their thing. Yeah, Go to the Chargers.
Speaker 1:Yeah, I don't think there's much to say about any of these seven no-brainers y'all, but we will acknowledge them here quickly. So yeah, that's a no-brainer. Definitely charges over the Patriots. What's the next one?
Speaker 5:Next one is the Cardinals traveling to LA to play the Rams, and we all got the Rams in this one.
Speaker 2:I mean they're fighting to win the division and making sure that they don't have a reason to play. That is our.
Speaker 5:Carolina Shout out to Bryce.
Speaker 1:Carolina Panthers. Yeah, so sorry, bree on that one, but you know Southern guys had to, you know, flex a little bit. Yeah, show them what was up on that one. Yeah, what Bryce does. Yeah, that's apparently what Bryce Young does. Okay, all right, okay, so what's the next?
Speaker 5:one. Next one we got the Jets traveling to Buffalo to play the Bills and we all got the Bills I mean Josh Allen trying to get that MVP, MVP, and the Jets don't have anything to play for, as a lot of these teams do A lot of these teams have nothing to play for, so we all going with the Bills.
Speaker 2:Yeah, you going with the MVP. Here I'm going with the Bills. I ain't going with the MVP though, but yeah, we going with the Bills. Interesting, we going to see, we going to see. Like, listen, let's see if he has a New England performance or you know a great. Rams performance. Let's just see.
Speaker 6:Because he's throwing arm punts.
Speaker 2:Now, that's a little different, as I recall those used to be called interceptions. But you know what? We will bow our head. Let's just say shout out to Josh Allen. Man, he's been playing well. All right, I have the Bills in this one.
Speaker 1:All right, okay, got the Bills in that one. What's the next one?
Speaker 5:when we got the Colts traveling to New York to play the Giants and we all got the Colts in this one. The Giants actually do have something to play for the number one pick, so they're trying to get one of these quarterbacks and they have to lose out to do it, so they will continue to do that and the Colts will win.
Speaker 2:Yeah, yeah, no, I have the Colts in this one. They're so fine for a playoff spot and you know the Giants, they need to get Shadur, absolutely.
Speaker 1:Absolutely. Yeah, no brainer here, colts will definitely get this one. Alright, what's?
Speaker 5:the next one. Next one we got the Cowboys traveling to Philly to play the Eagles, and we all got the Eagles in this one. Well, they already clinched the division, I think, did they?
Speaker 2:No, they haven division. I think they did they. Uh, no, they, oh, they didn't this one yeah, there's.
Speaker 5:Yes, they're still trying to clinch the division, so they got a lot to play for, so, uh, that's why they're gonna win this game. Cowboys are also sat cd, so I don't really have anybody for this one.
Speaker 2:Yeah, yeah, I'm not gonna lie. Uh, the jalen hurts. Not being in kind of worries me a little. I still have the eagles winning it. I'm just like, hey, just give the ball to Saquon, because weirdly, during the Commanders game they all of a sudden were like, oh yeah, kenny Pickett can do it. And I'm like you have Saquon back here, why are we not running the ball and focusing on him? So I just hope that they learn from that mistake and they focus. And you know, saquon tries to break the record this game because he's already had like 250 um versus the ram. So I definitely think it would be interesting if he could, you know, break the record on the cowboys at home that would be really cool.
Speaker 1:That would be interesting. And I hear some chatter about saquon. You know, if he's able to break eric dickerson's record, does that make him the mvp? But again, it's 17 games. So you know, with that extra game I don't think you can put as much stock into that and he's dipped a lot lately. So I think it's between Allen and Lamar, but we'll talk about that at the end. All right, we got the Eagles. What's the next one?
Speaker 5:Next one we got the Dolphins traveling to Cleveland to play the Browns and we all got the Dolphins this one, dolphins fighting for still alive, for a playoff spot, so they got to try and win out in Cleveland. They don't have Jameis, he's out, and the Dolphins, yeah. They got stuff to play for, so we're going with them.
Speaker 2:Yeah, Going Miami in this one, you know, might be a rough watch but I definitely have the Dolphins coming out.
Speaker 5:I will not be watching that game.
Speaker 1:Yeah, yeah, yeah, we definitely got the Dolphins. The Dolphins can beat the Browns. I don't know about the Ravens, but Dolphins will take care of business and get the Browns. Okay, all right. Well, what's the next one?
Speaker 5:Next one we got the Lions going to San Francisco to play the Niners and yeah, this should be ugly because they're trying to get revenge from that nfc championship from last year. So, uh, I see at least a 20 point victory and we're all going with them. I'm surprised the spread isn't higher.
Speaker 1:Me three and a half, yeah yeah, that's a low spread, very low spread. I would definitely go with the over on that yeah yeah, I got the Lions this one.
Speaker 2:I'm not too worried about what the 49ers have to offer this year. I think Lions are definitely trying to make the push for the one seed, so they definitely need to get this one.
Speaker 1:Yeah, okay, all right. Well, that concludes that segment. So those are our no-brainers. We'll get to our Island games a little later. We'll get to our Island games a little later. We'll get to that. But next we are moving on to fantasy football. So we got the showdown between our two Titans here. We've got Mr Silas from Canada and we got DC David Cook repping Georgia. So we're going to bring both of these guys on. So, without further ado, let me adjust the camera here to bring both of these guys on. So, without further ado, let me adjust the camera here and get both of these guys on and let's go with this. All right, here we go. What's?
Speaker 4:up fellas. What's up guys? What's going on?
Speaker 1:hey, hey all right, all right, let's get. Let the, let the uh, the talk begin here. So thank you for taking the time to join us. Guys, there is a lot on the line, a whole lot on the line here. You guys are, first of all, couldn't be two better guys here in the championship. So, while we are happy for you, you definitely owe you know, diego and I. You know we feel that we paved the way for you. So we did a lot of blocking and tackling and you know we took out, you know, the Brandons of the world Gosh, christopher, christopher we took him out. Yeah, there were a number of guys that we feel like we took out for you to pave the way. So we feel that part of this championship is ours, no matter what.
Speaker 4:Absolutely, I'll share it with you. Oh, I'll know.
Speaker 3:I really don't know man. I faced against Josh Burke. That was a really difficult battle but, yeah, really difficult for my team to get here.
Speaker 4:my team struggled all year, so thank, thank you, diego, for all that you did for us. Dc yes, yes, the league that the league that we have is a super competitive league and many, many close games yeah, yeah, a lot of close games, a lot of close games, a lot of close games, a lot of competition.
Speaker 1:This is what is on the line here the Lombardi. It is as heavy as it looks, so it's great. It will be engraved. So get the mic. It will be engraved, so it will be customized before it is shipped to you. So it's either going to Canada or going to Georgia, so we'll see it's coming to Georgia. No, I don't know man.
Speaker 3:I don't know man.
Speaker 4:I'm not sure why DT go ahead and inscribe it with my name on it.
Speaker 1:Go ahead and inscribe it now.
Speaker 4:DT Nation. You know Silas has a good team and he has been really moving up the ranks each week. But you know something I noticed about his team this week that was interesting. You know Hurds and Kamara, two of his stallions.
Speaker 3:Who needs them?
Speaker 4:You know they were too scared. They said they tapped out we're suiting up to play DC Nation. We don't want any of that.
Speaker 1:Yeah.
Speaker 4:They just stepped aside. They said we know, there's no way, you know. So I mean, I respect their decision, but you know anyway.
Speaker 3:Yeah, they got hurt. Fine for this cause, man. You know my team is heart. My team is ready. You know my team is battle-tested. We faced against contender after contender. We took them all down. David, you're next.
Speaker 4:Hey, one thing I will say. I have had a hard time with Silas' team this year. My team did really well. Surprisingly, I've played Solace a couple of times and he put me to shame. He says my team is just a regular season team.
Speaker 3:It's a regular season, I ain't worried, just like the Cowboys. Why am I 2-0 in the playoffs, with scoring 200 points and winning a regular season team?
Speaker 4:It's a regular season, I ain't worried, just like the Cowboys Buy my 2-0 in the playoffs with scoring 200 points and winning each contest by 60%.
Speaker 3:Ain't going to happen against me.
Speaker 4:I have to light my odds DT.
Speaker 1:I love it. I love it. Now is this. I know, silas, a couple of things. Silas had the number one pick and took McCaffrey. Huge, huge accomplishment by you getting here to the championship. So that's a huge accomplishment. Now, david, were you the number one seed coming into the playoffs? Yes, okay, wow. So this is because we had 10 teams make the playoffs. So this is number one seed versus number 10. Because, silas, weren't you the number 10 seed coming in?
Speaker 3:Yeah, I'm like the we Believe Warriors right now. It's like the Warriors versus the Mavericks.
Speaker 1:Wow, yeah, so this is the number one seed versus number 10 seed, so this is huge. So this is David and Goliath, although it's flipped, because David, in this case, is Goliath.
Speaker 4:Well, I don't know about that, but my team, my team, has been fortunate. We've we've been relatively injury free. And you know, derek, you and I made a great trade. Yes, we did, and I I that. That was a trade. You know, I traded you josh allen and james connor connor, and those two really helped you. Yep and uh, but malik neighbors and t higgins have been so steady each week and I think that that's been the key. Yeah, because each week the same guys are tough. Yeah, but the consistency has been excellent. Mm-hmm.
Speaker 3:Yeah.
Speaker 4:I hope my guys can do it one more week.
Speaker 1:One more week, yeah, yeah, you just needed one more week. And what was so crazy is you first of all, who trades Josh Allen and then still, you know, gets to the championship. But you did that. But you had strong enough QB behind him and you had neighbors on your team, originally Right, and traded them to me, and then I traded them back to you in a package for Allen. That's right. So we did a lot of wheeling and dealing there, but, yeah, you definitely had some amazing GM skills, both of you to get here, and then Silas, with you not having your number one pick, you know that was huge. So it's going to be a great matchup. We are excited. So you both are going to get this new retro Pick'em Pro hoodie.
Speaker 1:Wow, you're both getting that no matter what.
Speaker 3:Thank you, man.
Speaker 1:So that's for first and second place, so that's coming to you, no matter what. For first and second place, so that's coming to you, no matter what. We'll talk to you offline and figure out what colorway you want it, because we've got it in many different colorways. So we've got a cowboy colorway, we've got all types of colorways. So let us know what you want there. But then, of course, the winner is going to be the. You know, this isn't the Lombardi, this is the Thompson.
Speaker 1:It's going to look nice on my shelf. It's going to look nice on my shelf.
Speaker 4:Yeah, I've already cleared off the space. I was doing some Christmas cleaning and I got it. I've got a spot right there ready for it, man.
Speaker 5:Love it, love it.
Speaker 1:That's awesome.
Speaker 4:Can I ask Diego a question? Yes, yes I would love to hear Diego. Who does Diego think will win between Silas and my team this weekend?
Speaker 5:No, I think I'm going to go with Silas, because his team is strong enough to beat my team. So I think any team that was strong enough to beat my team has the ability to win it all. And that caused me to brag Like, hey, I lost to the champion. I like to hear it. That makes me look a little better.
Speaker 4:I will say that Diego's team. I had full confidence that I was going to beat them, but my team choked and Diego's team came through strong. So that was a surprising win that I felt confident. And that's fantasy football you never know what's going to happen.
Speaker 1:That's true. Never know, that's true.
Speaker 4:That's why it's always fun. True, that's why it's always fun, but another thing is that now the odds do say 64% to 36%.
Speaker 3:Don't listen to them.
Speaker 4:In favor, and so Kelsey got you off to a great start. But Flowers.
Speaker 3:Oh, zay Flowers, you know what I'm. So done with Zay Flowers.
Speaker 4:The Flowers wilted man, the Flowers wilted man, the Flowers wilted under pressure.
Speaker 3:I'm in two leagues in the championship with Zay Flowers and he completely choked both times. It's so unbelievable.
Speaker 1:He's up and down for sure. He's definitely an up-and-down receiver.
Speaker 3:Yeah. I'd like to say one more thing, though. Yes, he's definitely an up-and-down receiver. I'd like to say one more thing, though. Yes, david, good luck to you. It's an honor to be in this position, considering I squeaked into the playoffs, right? Yeah, david has a really talented team. It's going to be really fun. Fantasy football is all about having fun, right? Yeah? Thank you, derek, for making this league and giving the sweaters to us. I'm very grateful for that, you know?
Speaker 5:yeah, it's been a really fun league, so I can't wait to end it off with me winning.
Speaker 1:Can't wait for that. And oh, dc, I got to preview one thing for you. I told you I had a special hat for you, so this is courtesy of a wife here for Christmas. So, jerry Jones Thompson, I was told that the hat that he had was getting a little stale and old and didn't quite represent Cowboy Nation. So we got an upgrade here.
Speaker 4:Show us the upgrade.
Speaker 1:I got a, I got a, I got a Stetson Wow.
Speaker 4:That's a really nice hat.
Speaker 1:Yes, this is a Stetson boy hat. So now, whenever, jerry, when, when it's time for Jerry Jones Thompson to come back, he will definitely Prognosticate the proper way. Yes, sir, you can book it. So, david, he will definitely prognosticate the proper way?
Speaker 4:Yes, sir.
Speaker 1:You can book it. So, david, yes, sir, I know you've got him right where you want him.
Speaker 4:That's right. I've got you right where I want you?
Speaker 3:I don't know about that. I don't know about that.
Speaker 4:And one last thing I want to say, if it's okay, dt. Yes, I think I've heard you mention the name Summer.
Speaker 1:Yes, yes, she's behind the scenes managing the comments and everything. Does all our social media.
Speaker 4:Was that the Summer? Who was in our league?
Speaker 1:Yes, yep, and she can hear you right now.
Speaker 4:Okay. Well, I just want to say to Summer great job, yes, because her team was scraping the bottom of the basement Yep Entire year, and I would much prefer to play Diego than to have to play Summer this Sunday, Because her team would wax Diego. Yeah, it is on fire. And so I just want to commend Summer for her good work and her perseverance, because she believed in her team.
Speaker 1:Yes, she did, she did.
Speaker 4:And I'm just being silly with Silas. I know he knows I love him and I love his. He has a great team too, but I was so impressed that Summer just stuck with it. She believed in her team and, man, at the end of the year her team just took off.
Speaker 1:Oh yeah, it did Really impressive. I was lucky to get by her the last game of the season. I was lucky because I needed that win for the bye and I think Judy went like crazy that last week.
Speaker 3:And I won by less than a point.
Speaker 1:So I was so lucky to win. Yeah, if she got into the playoffs she would have been a problem.
Speaker 4:I know that's right. Dt and Diego and all of you just thank you for letting us be a part of this. It was such a fun time and I hope that we can get invited to come back again next year and I'm looking forward to defending my championship. And, diego, you know, let the best team win. All right, and thanks for everything, derek and Diego. We appreciate y'all so much.
Speaker 1:And you bet we appreciate you guys All right. Well, good luck to you, and we'll be talking to you in a couple of days Sounds great.
Speaker 4:Good luck you and we'll be, talking to you in a couple of days Sounds great.
Speaker 1:Good luck, all right. Bye-bye, all right, thank you, cool, okay, all right, so that was awesome. Let's see, we're going to go to our island picks in a second. But let's see, do we have any questions? Summer, nope, okay, nope, are we are clear? All right, good deal, good deal, and we will be touching on, uh, college football playoffs next episode too. So just so you know that, all right, well, let's, uh, we're gonna go into our island picks here next in a minute. So, uh, we'll have a quick little, quick little uh transition and we're gonna go to our island. We're going to go to the island man. I know I have the cowboy hat. We're going to the island. All right, we are back. We are back, we are on the island man. Yes, yes, all right, don't be confused by my accent here. Okay, so let's get into these island pics and let's bring the one and only Brianna on. Brianna, what's up? All right, how you doing.
Speaker 6:I'm good. It's a beautiful day outside today, so I'm just in such a good mood.
Speaker 1:Good, good, good, fantastic. I'm sure I made your mood better with the, the accent, the island accent. I know it was for sure, yes, I loved it thank you, see you, thank you.
Speaker 1:Thank you so much, brie. All right, cool, cool. Well, we have got six games. First of all, that hoodie's looking fire. You got the yep. The detroit lions themed yeah, themed. Pick'em Pros retro hoodie. So it's looking good. Yes, those will be available. Those will be available by our King show. So we're working out a few things here to be able to produce a larger quantity. They've passed all the quality tests and I think they're good to go. We've gotten rave reviews on them so we'll be rolling those out soon. So those of you watching you'll be able to get those in a couple of weeks. We'll have them available, all right.
Speaker 1:Well, I think three games separates us. So this is the final week of our matchup between the four of us. So Diego has got a one-game lead. Chris is one game back from Diego, diego's in the lead. Chris is one game back from Diego, diego's in the lead. Chris is one game back. Then Bree is just one game back from there. So Bree has gained a game from last week.
Speaker 1:That Cowboys pick was huge. You were right on that Cowboys game, so that got you into it. You chipped into that lead and then I'm just right there behind you guys. So of course, that Panthers win was bold and great for me and really stole the show last week. But you know I won't take the shine from you guys. It's all about you guys, all right. So here we go. Let's go into our first island game here. We've got the Green Bay Packers traveling to Minnesota to play the Vikings. The Packers was the team that I boldly said was the best in the NFC. So of course y'all know where I stand on this game. Bree, where are you on this game?
Speaker 6:I have the Packers on this game.
Speaker 1:Okay, yeah, Bree is with me on the Packers. We're both on this side. I think you guys are on the opposite side.
Speaker 5:Diego, where do you stand? I'm with the Vikings in this game. They're at home, they're hot right now. Diego, where do you stand? I'm with the Vikings in this game. They're at home, they're hot right now. I'm just going with them. I just have the confidence in Sam Darnold and the defense and Justin Jefferson and all the receivers they got. I'm just confident in them. Home field advantage as well.
Speaker 2:Okay, I believe that the Vikings definitely want their fight for the 1C to come down in Week 18. So they're going to come out with very great aggression in this game. I believe they're going to beat the Packers. It's going to be a close one, but you know, if Jordan Love has his typical you know interception here or there, I think the Vikings are going to get this one and they're going to have another cool celebration to end the game in the end zone. Ooh, okay.
Speaker 1:That happens a lot in Minnesota. They seem to get lucky and have a lot of miracle finishes, but I don't think that's happening. Man, jordan Love and those guys, they're firing on all cylinders. They're a complete team, they're ready, they smell blood in the water and they're going to go in there, ready to make a statement and show. I think the Vikings have been playing a punching above their weight and I think this is a game that's slightly out of their, out of their weight class. They should not be a two loss team at this point. So they're just ready to go ahead and get another another loss. That's my take. Uh, brie, any, any other comments on on this one?
Speaker 6:yeah. So the vikings, they have an eight game winning streak. So I think that's about to come to the end of that because the packers they've been hot. They just had their first shutout game of the whole season, like everywhere. So I think the packers aren't gonna let them get this ninth game winning streak.
Speaker 1:Yeah, yeah, totally agree. All right. So me and Bree are on the same side here, taking you guys down and boom, just getting another game on you. So you guys got to watch out here, all right, so let's go to the next one. We've got the Broncos versus the Bengals. Okay, man, now this is a tough one. This can really go either way, and again, we are split on this one. Bree, who do you have in this one?
Speaker 6:I have the Broncos because Bo Nix has really just been playing pretty good, for I mean, he's been pretty good. I feel like he reminds me of Peyton Manning a little bit right now, in this time of his career, so I think he's really just going to focus on this game and get that win.
Speaker 1:Okay, all right, yep, he's looking good. Diego, who do you have?
Speaker 5:I'm also going with the Broncos, the Bengals. They just let me down too many times in these games. It seems like earlier on in the season when they had to have it, they kept on losing. Then they played a few bad teams here. These last few games they've been able to win. But the Broncos, they're a good team. They're 9-6 and fighting for a playoff spot. So I think Bo Nix will play like Peyton Manning against this awful defense and get the win.
Speaker 1:Okay okay, Young guns are on the same side on this one. Where do you stand on this one, Chris?
Speaker 2:Look, I'm liking the run that the Bengals are putting together with Joe Burrow and Jabbar and I do think it's going to be really interesting seeing the matchup between Jabbar and Pat Sertain. But I don't know. I like how the Bengals are getting towards the end of this season and, you know, I think that they'll come away with a win. Now, are they still going to make the playoffs? That's yet to be seen, but I still think they want to go out, you know, with some good things to say, like towards the end of the season, yeah, okay.
Speaker 1:All right. Well, yeah, I'm with you, man.
Speaker 5:Old heads unite, all right unite, all right, yeah, yeah, you a little older head right there.
Speaker 2:But all right, all right, you know 22 over here, guys, just just I basically look 22 yeah, I'm there with you, man, I'm with you.
Speaker 1:So we got the teens they're the teens and we're. We're in the 20s, you know I'm saying 20s, 20s, unite, yes, yes.
Speaker 1:So cincinnati bangles yeah, man, they're looking good. Ooh, everybody better Pray that they don't get in the playoffs, because that's the dangerous team right there. So, yeah, as long as they stay out, then you know, I think things will go the way that most people think. But the Bengals are tough. The Bengals are not scared. The defense has been shaky, but the Bengals, they're at home, they. But the Bengals, they're at home. They need to have this one. I think they find a way to well, they do find a way to get this one All right. So we're split on this one. There's another one where we inch a little closer. The next game where we're split 2-2, the Tennessee Titans versus the Jacksonville Jaguars. Now, this is probably more of a coin flip one I think we just happen to be. The Jags are just the one game favorite. So I don't think anybody's bold about this one here. But, bree, what side are you?
Speaker 6:on for this one. Yeah, I have the Titans on this one because they're on a four game losing streak, so I think it's their time to get a game. And they're both. They both play the same way, but the Jaguars, they struggle more with their consistency, with their offense and everything. So for me it just makes sense for the Titans to win this game, since they're on a losing streak.
Speaker 1:Okay, yeah, I'm going to break that streak, and not really. They've still been trying to win, so you know they're not like some of the other teams there. But okay, chris, who do you have?
Speaker 2:Out of the Titans in this one. I'm just I don't know. It's very hard to pick this game. It's just, you know, hard watching the season y'all. It's not going to be great.
Speaker 1:So, I definitely have a tendency in this, so you're not going to be watching this one specifically Not at all, not at all.
Speaker 2:Okay, all right man Anybody who willfully watches this game. You love the game of football to an intensity that we should be concerned.
Speaker 1:You are a fan. You are a real fan. If you're watching this one. You're a real fan, for sure, much more than we are, and we have a show. Alright, alright, diego. Who do you have?
Speaker 5:I'm going with the Jags in this one. Both these teams are really similar, but the Jags I just have more confidence in their roster. They're not saying their roster is great, but I mean they do. Have you know, etienne and Bigsby in the backfield and Brian Thomas at the receiver. He's been playing well, so I'm going to go with them. I've never heard of him, brian Thomas.
Speaker 6:Brian Thomas he's playing great.
Speaker 3:That's LSU fan. He's playing great.
Speaker 2:Thomas. He's having one of the better rookie seasons out of the rookie receivers, and him and Malik are again the two best rookie receivers other than the guy in Arizona. Sorry, bree, I don't mean to talk bad about Marvin Harrison, but he's locking them up. They've been doing their thing Okay.
Speaker 1:All right, yeah, I got the Jags as well. The Jags and that amazing home field advantage is going to pull through and I think that stadium is going to be rocking man, we might have to make the drive down there Might be rocking for them to lose, so they can get a higher draft pick I
Speaker 2:wonder how much tickets.
Speaker 1:I wonder how much tickets will be for this. One Might be cheaper than the Panthers tickets were last year. Yeah, last year. Alright, okay, alright. So let's split on that. So let's get to some slightly better games here. This next game we've got Atlanta Falcons.
Speaker 1:Breeze Falcons travel to Washington to play the commanders, the team that upset the Eagles last week. So I have in that vision that I have, am going with the Atlanta Falcons. Yes, I am not going with the home team that had the great win there. No, no, no. You guys are fooled by that. As usual. Y'all are looking at. You got recency bias here. You got to look at, you got to anticipate what's going to happen here. Okay, and I see the Falcons man. They got that bad boy. Michael Pinnock Jr has taken over, looked amazing last week. He's going to march in there and snatch that win. Commander is going to take him lightly. And the Falcons have taken over first place in the division. So they've got to win. They've got to get this win and continue to win and hold the Bucs off. And, yeah, I think they get this win. So, bree, you going to switch to my side.
Speaker 6:Unfortunately, as much as I love the Falcons, no, the Commanders. They want the NFC East title, so I don't think they're going to lose that game. And the Falcons, they're not as good as the Commanders are, Unfortunately. As much as I hate to say that, yeah, it's just no.
Speaker 1:Okay. All right All right, okay, and Washington is a four and a half point favorite, all right. So their home team, they're still in it, they can still win. That division had a big win, so they're going to ride. That momentum says breathe. What do you say, diego?
Speaker 5:Yeah, I agree, I'm gonna go with the commanders. The Falcons don't have the best defense. I think their offense commanders offense is going to go is going to go crazy in this one. Kyle Pitts can't catch the ball. Sorry, that's just fact. The one interception Penix had, it went right off of his hands into the defenders. I'm going with the commanders.
Speaker 2:I'm sorry. The fact that they beat the Giants of all teams that's giving you confidence going into the next week versus the commanders, a team who had five turnovers in a great Saquon Barkley first quarter and still managed to win that game. I'm sorry. What are we doing here, man? I'm very concerned. Look, we got the rookie of the year. This is going to be his coordination of the Sunday night football. This is going to be his crowding moment. And like yeah in a season full of crowding moments.
Speaker 2:I think that Jaden Daigles is going to do his thing again, Even if it's close. I trust Jaden. If I have to do his thing, All right.
Speaker 1:All right, we're going to see. It's going to be the rookie QB showdown here. All right, we're going to see what happens here. But I'm on an island with that one. Okay, another game where I'm on an island by myself. The Las Vegas Raiders travel to New Orleans to play the Saints. I've got the Raiders in this one Only because the Raiders seem to be still going for wins. Coming off the win last week, now you would think they'd be trying to tank, trying to get Shador or whatnot, but they're clearly trying to win. So that's the only reason I'm picking them. It's because both teams should be tanking and they look like a team that wants to win. So that's who I'm going with. We'll switch the order here. Who you got, diego?
Speaker 5:I don't think the Saints are tanking. I think the Saints are tanking. I think the Saints are trying to win just because they've got a few games throughout the course of the year and even though they are heavily injured, I still believe that the home field advantage is a big thing. The crowd's going to be rocking and I just this isn't a great game. I'm just going to pick the Saints coin flip because of their home field.
Speaker 2:Okay. But yeah, I'm picking the Saints in this one. I just think the Saints are going to do their whole purgatory act, finish with like 78 wins and then, you know, head to the off season thinking like, hey, what do we need to do?
Speaker 5:to do to all the people that were hurt.
Speaker 2:Exactly. We signed all the hurt people not drafted quarterback and just stay in perpetual midness. So that's kind of what we're gonna see from the new world sounds like the saints.
Speaker 1:Okay, what about you, brie?
Speaker 6:yeah, I have the saints for this one. The raiders, they're not good. I know they're still going for the wins, but I don't think they're gonna win this game, even though they only have like one player out right now and it's just a guard player. So I feel like it's gonna be like a good game, but not too good, or everyone's gonna go crazy for it okay, all right.
Speaker 1:Okay, everyone's going with the home team except me. This will be another one where I climb in there. Oh, snatched at the end, I like it. I like it. Okay, all right. The last island game before we get to our mvp race debate. We've got the carolina panthers coming off of that win that I predicted that I called on an island last week. They now travel to Tampa to play the Bucs. Yeah, and let's see. So it appeared that we had Chris on an island for this one, but we may have some shifting here, so let's go around. Let's start with Bree. Who do you have in this one? Yeah, I have the Bucs for this one, but we may have some shifting here, so let's go around. Let's start with Bree. Who do you have in this one?
Speaker 6:Yeah, I have the Bucs for this one because they beat the Panthers last time 26-23 in overtime. So I think it was a close game. But I think the Bucs are going to win it again, just because the Panthers don't really have a lot going for them right now anyway. So I'm going to for them right now anyway, and let's go with the Bucs on this one.
Speaker 1:Okay, all right, we're going with the Bucs on this one, diego. Mr Supposed-to-be Carolina Panther, who do you have in this one, diego, for?
Speaker 5:the record. We should have won that game against Bucs. We just got the first down, we were in field goal range and then Chuba fumbled while we were in field goal range. We were about to kick it, so real ones know that we should have won that game. I just had to get that off my chest because that was a pretty bad game.
Speaker 6:Anyway.
Speaker 5:I'm picking the Bucs for this one. This is a part of my strategy. A part of my strategy. This is what I do, part of your strategy. Okay, yeah, the Bucs are fighting for the NFC South.
Speaker 1:Still, and yeah, and the still and uh, yeah, and the bucks, bucks at home, they got the home field advantage. So, yeah, I'm going with them. Wow, you're going with them. Okay, very interesting, interesting man. Well, you know, we may have to, we may have to not produce any more of these. So we had. So johnny yo, if you're watching, johnny yo coined the phrase diego army last, and he coined that when Diego was down several games to Dez and me and then Diego went on a run and won. A whole bunch in a row, coined the phrase Diego Army and won. So we've got this shirt for him and his Panther fandom. So that's the shirt. And then the back right there. It's cool. So his Panther theme says loyalty. Wow, carolina panthers. But here he is going against the team. So, chris, that's for you.
Speaker 2:Man, appreciate your shot, your shirt go ahead and give us your pick all right, I am picking the carolina panthers because one, we do have a lot of momentum going into this game. I mean, we kind of broke the moral victory streak last week with being the Cardinals and I do think that seeing the walk off with Truba Hubbard, that definitely was encouraging. Now is Mike Evans going to, you know, get us a thousand yards against us. Most likely, most likely. But you know, I think that if we make enough plays and the defense locks in for a couple drives, we're definitely going to win this game. And you know, as a Panthers fan I've kind of grown past the whole like oh, we're going to tank and then we're going to get a high draft pick. Typically how it goes is we always win a couple games you don't expect and then we lose our draft position, so pretty sure that's going to happen this week and then we're going to lose next week.
Speaker 1:Okay, and I'm going to go Panthers. I'm going Panthers. On this, I'm changing my pick. I initially was going Bucks, I'm going Panthers. Excuse me, carolina Panthers. Yep, that's my pick man. I picked them last week. They won. I'm going with them again, all right, yeah.
Speaker 5:So, Diego, see what happens, man, We'll see man All right?
Speaker 1:Okay, all right, carolina Panthers man, we'll pull this one out and chase you guys down. All right, you guys ready to talk? Mvp. Yep All right, let's get into this. This is going to be all fun, okay, mvp race Diego, start us off. Man who you got MVP.
Speaker 5:I'm going with Josh Allen for MVP. He's won all the big games, beat Patrick Holmes only QB to do that beat the Lions they only lost two, though he's beat the two best teams in the league. Just these crazy games. He's putting up with the three passing touchdowns, three rushing, then two passing, two rushing against Detroit, and he's just been balling all year, had these crazy stats and just doing his thing. So I think if you win the big games and you put up the good stats, I think you should be MVP.
Speaker 1:Okay, okay, now hold on. Let us pause for that, because I think we got three questions. So, summer, can you put those questions up? We know you got Josh Allen there, but I want to answer these questions because he's there. So okay, that, uh, for my wife. Uh, exactly, who is my team? Um, so it it's complex. Uh, I would say my team overall is the carolina. Well, you know, it's multiple, I've got, I've got a couple teams, so so I'd say Carolina Panthers are the hometown team. Ok, so that's one. And then Green Bay Packers are, you know, my team. I claimed the Green Bay Packers several, several years ago.
Speaker 5:I was a free agent I went.
Speaker 1:I went through a very detailed free agent process as I was picking my team and for many reasons that I don't have time to go into for the show right now, I selected the Green Bay Packers, but by living here, being a Carolina Panther, I went to believe you know, the first game they ever had and whatnot, in the Bank of America Stadium and all that. So you know, but definitely a Panther. So those are the top two that I have many other that I like, all right, so that's so. Those are some of my teams, but know, I'm I'm more of an nfl guy. I'm an nfl guy and of course it's my pick over everything. So my pick overrides everything. So that's that one, okay. What's the other? I claim everybody, okay. What's the other one? The other one is, I think, diego. Sounds like he's from any island, that's you.
Speaker 1:Oh man, yes, I definitely sound like I'm from an island.
Speaker 2:I don't know what island, but it's an island Definitely. Okay, any other he might be the only resident, but yeah.
Speaker 1:Oh, there we go. And then Mikey asked Bree, what's your thoughts on that shirt? So I wonder which one? Is it probably the one that I held up? The Diego Army shirt. What's your thoughts on the Diego Army shirt? Do you want to show that, chris?
Speaker 6:Yeah, I think it's an amazing shirt, but it's no longer for Diego because he's not loyal anymore. Oh man.
Speaker 4:Yes yes.
Speaker 5:It's just a strategy to being a Panther fan. You gotta have strategies to make your team win going against them yeah sometimes you gotta do things you're not proud of for your team to win okay, that's his logic there, bert, that is his logic, okay, alright.
Speaker 1:Okay, you got to do things you're not proud of for your team to win, you know? Okay, that's his logic there, bird, that is his logic, okay, all right. Okay, so great questions. Thank you for those. Oh, and then thoughts on Lamar. So we're going to get into that, mike, we're about to. Whoa man, we're about to dive into that.
Speaker 2:So hold on just one second and then if you still have any follow-up questions on lamar, let us know. But by by the time um, the three of us go here, I think you'll hear a lot about lamar. Okay, so go ahead, chris. So due to the early season issues and dysfunction and with how well josh allen was playing, I'm not gonna lie, I was a big josh allen for mvp guy, but but, seeing Lamar Jackson still put up these crazy numbers, still do his thing, and in recent weeks it looks like he's about to win his division.
Speaker 2:I'm just going to say that Lamar Jackson's my MVP. Now detractors are going to say oh, he has Derrick Henry, he has all these weapons.
Speaker 2:Do you know how. And again, lamar Jackson's my favorite quarterback. So I'm going to say this Do you understand how many years we've been waiting for a Lamar has good weapons argument? In all the MVP conversation, all I'm going to say is, yes, derek Henry has played well, but let's look at former MVPs and the great players that they had In 2007,. Who did Tom Brady? Who was Tom Brady throwing to?
Speaker 1:There was a guy, randy.
Speaker 2:Moss. Yeah, caught 26 touchdowns. They went 18 and out bet. Okay, pain manning. You know who did he have? Edrin james, you know marvin harrison jr. Hall of famers, correct. So what is? Derrick henry and zay flowers and mark andrews.
Speaker 2:That's not really moving me with, you know, lamar sobbing me an mvp. I'm so sorry and, again, I love that josh allen and the bills are doing so great and you they've won all these games and you know Josh Allen is throwing arm punts. You know, to kind of help out the defense. However, I think that Lamar should win MVP. I again. It's just, it's a matter of rising any time you watch him play. Like, I'm not going to say that Josh isn't deserving this year and is going to be one of the closest races I've ever seen. But I think Lamar, with the fact that he's going to win the AFC North and how he's played basically since the bye, basically this whole season, it's kind of been like if he doesn't play well, all of a sudden this team falls completely apart. So I definitely have the Ravens in this one.
Speaker 1:Okay, all right, sogo, yes, lamar. So diego has josh allen, chris has lamar, uh, but although he's been up and down, so uh chris has been on a little bit of a emotional roller coaster. Vivian green, uh, up and down, so you know, week to week that's fluctuated, but that's okay. Got uh lamar jackson today. So let's see uh, brie, who, who do you have?
Speaker 6:yeah, so I have josh allen for mvp. At first I was with lamar jackson, but alan really secured it for me because, I mean, he has the most accuracy with his throws and he's always there for his team. He I don't know, he's like the most efficient quarterback in the end zone red zone, same thing but Lamar Jackson, he's the most dynamic runner, but I feel like and Lamar's had the same stats almost every year, so I feel like he's not really doing much anymore, like he's just there, I feel like I don't know. So I just like Josh Allen more. I feel like he's more of a valuable player than Lamar.
Speaker 1:OK, ok. So that's another for Josh Allen, and yeah. So look, lamar Jackson. Lamar has the new perfume. Okay, love it. You know what I'm saying? I'm a buy it.
Speaker 3:So I am a Lamar.
Speaker 1:Jackson fan, and I want to smell like a woman too.
Speaker 4:So I'm with you on that. I'm with you on that Lamar Jackson fan and.
Speaker 1:I want to smell like a woman too, so I'm with you on that.
Speaker 1:I'm with you on that, lamar. You are my guy, but you got to get to a Super Bowl. You've already won two MVPs. It's the same rule that I had for Joker in the NBA when he won two MVPs and had not gotten to the finals. And I'm also. I'm sorry, but that light-skinned boogeyman up in Kansas City okay, you've been. Those knees get a little shaky when he comes around, and until you handle that boogeyman in Kansas City, I cannot in good conscious vote for you to get that MVP until you get over that light-skinned man in Kansas City.
Speaker 2:How did Josh Allen face that light-skinned boogeyman? What are we doing? He beat him. He beat him in the regular season.
Speaker 1:He beat him and then, when he lost to him in the playoffs. It was one of the most epic games ever. Went back and forth, back and forth, back and forth, Lamar.
Speaker 2:Jackson, are you talking about who loses better, like they still lose?
Speaker 1:Lamar Jackson still has the title of playing poorly in the big games. Josh Allen doesn't have that title. He's played great Josh.
Speaker 2:Allen's played great. Also, it's the other Other teams fall with Josh Allen. He loses to the better player in the playoffs.
Speaker 1:And the other thing that I can't unsee is that Raiders loss man that Raiders loss at home. You can't forget about the Jameis loss too, oh yeah, the Jameis loss oh my God, I mean gosh Jameis basically got kicked off the Browns three games later. I'm saying buddy out of nothing.
Speaker 1:They lost the worst team in the league, in the Raiders and the big bad Ravens. So yeah, yeah, but yeah, I just again, I cannot unsee an old broke-down Kelsey and a boogeyman Mahomes on one leg hobbling into Baltimore and kind of breaking them down like that. Just like I can't unsee Ant and what happened when slow Euro step Luca went and made him look small. I cannot unsee that. So again, I'm rooting for Lamar. If he overcomes and gets to the Super Bowl and has another big year, I'll be the first to vote for him. But right now he's on probation. Until he overcomes that hump.
Speaker 6:All right, I will let you go, Josh Allen. They beat the Lions, so I feel like that's a pretty big accomplishment. So you know, that's just a preview for the Super Bowl, though. So the Lions will win the Super Bowl, but you know.
Speaker 1:That's right. That's right, that was huge. Yeah, you go up to them if you just whisper Mahomes, okay, all right, so we're just going to say listen, we're going to talk about a dude who loses better.
Speaker 2:That's all I'm going to say. Like they are both losing to the same player.
Speaker 1:Okay, who's your favorite football team?
Speaker 2:Carolina Panthers.
Speaker 1:Okay, so you know all about losing better.
Speaker 2:Yeah.
Speaker 1:Losing with style points yeah yeah, world victory.
Speaker 2:You got me there. You got me there. I'm going to let you at it. I'm going to let you at it. Sorry to tell us, man, losing, losing.
Speaker 5:We lose with the best of us.
Speaker 2:Yeah.
Speaker 1:We lose with the best of them. We lose with the best of them. Fun debate, fun conversation. Can't wait to see these final two weeks. It's going to be fun to watch within the playoffs. Oh my goodness, it's going to be so much fun to watch. We can settle it on the field. That's where it should be settled.
Speaker 2:Can't wait to see that. Let's see who might fall to my homes this year.
Speaker 1:It will be the Arrowhead Invitational again, for sure. Well, bree, pleasure to have you, as always.
Speaker 6:Yep, thank you for having me.
Speaker 1:Yes, thanks for being on. We will see you here in person February 8th for our Super Bowl show, our Super Bowl pre-show, and again we'll be here in studio in a couple of weeks, so we'll, of course, have you there and a whole lot on social media over the next several weeks.
Speaker 6:So have a very great new year and we'll talk to you soon. All right, bye. Thank you so much.
Speaker 1:All right, thank you, bye. All right, all right, guys. Well, almost time to get out of here. We've got one final segment. We are starting a new segment here quickly with. We're going to have a fan on every single week where we end our show with a fan. So if you would like to be our special fan and join us at the end of the show, let us know, reach out to us, dm us and we'll get that schedule going and try to get you on. But right now all of you know Brandon he's got the most knowledge of anyone that we know, so we love to have him on. So we're going to come on and grill him and ask him a couple of questions real quick about a lot of what we talked about today. So let's give it to our man, brandon. What's going on? My man?
Speaker 7:What's going on?
Speaker 1:Hey, man, good to see you. As always, you have a good Christmas, man.
Speaker 7:Yeah, I did Good good man.
Speaker 1:Well, good to see you, yeah, man. So, man, what's your thoughts on the whole NFL taking over Christmas?
Speaker 7:on the NBA, man, Christmas on the NBA man. So I feel like the NFL won the viewership race, but I think the NBA won the product Okay. So it's like, yes, I saw where it's like, oh, they had 24 million viewers to just buy for the NBA. It's like, yeah, that's cool, but the NBA games were kind of better overall than two NFL games. So it was like, while the NFL won the viewership war, but the NBA won the product war, yeah, okay.
Speaker 1:Okay, yeah, the NFL, the numbers, you can nfl the numbers, you can't argue the numbers for sure. But all those games were, uh, you know, the games were, were definitely none of them were close. And then the game last night, even though it wasn't a christmas game, my goodness, six to three, uh, that that game was so bad we didn't even talk about it here on the show today. Yeah, so it was pretty, uh, pretty bad. So, yeah, the nba definitely had some better, better games, for sure, uh, there, uh, mvp man, who you got so I have josh allen to win vp.
Speaker 7:Like when I look at it, I kind of like the whole I like to do theories on MVP awards in sports so I was like I'm thinking like, as I keep looking at all this was, I'm like I think what's getting lost with the MVP award is like what is the criteria? Because one year you're saying this, one year you're saying this. It's like it's not really consistent. Is it best player on the best team? Is it best player in the league? Is it just numbers and stats? Is it team accomplishments? Is it both? So it's like, and then you look at, well, lamar got two, he shouldn't win another one. It's like josh, josh gotta be one. It's like, okay, we give it to josh. Then like, who's next up?
Speaker 7:Yeah, like, is it we trying to search for the next court? Well, my home's got and Lamar's got two and Josh got one. So it's like, okay, maybe Joe Burrow's up next. So it's like I mean that's cool, but it's kind of like the NBA, right? So like I think what happens a lot of times is, once you start winning multiple MVPs, we kind of get tired of seeing the same people winning MVP awards. Yeah, we do, but it's kind of crazy because it's like I look at NBA, I'm like, wait a minute, If Jordan won like five MVPs, he could have easily had about eight or nine of them. Oh yeah, for sure. Lebron could have had eight or seven or eight of them.
Speaker 7:Kobe could have had two or three of them yeah shaq could have had two or three, right, um yokich could have like three or four. You look in the NFL Brady could have had more MVPs, mahomes could have had more MVPs, lamar could have had more. I think a lot of times it's like there's this thing called bonus fatigue. I think a lot of times that kind of get in a way of consistent dominance, oh yeah. And then the voters are like, well, he's gotta do something different or something catastrophic for us to vote for him. Like right, gotta be something new. Like either you have a career year, your team has a career season, a record-breaking season, something record-breaking you gotta to do to put in.
Speaker 7:And I'm like, well, if he's just great every year, like I can't, I don't want to punish the guy for being great every year. Like with Jokic, it's like he's nearly average of a triple-double, but you don't want to give him MVP. And it's like, no, you got to give him MVP because he's putting up, he's averaging nearly triple-double, but he's also shooting. He's going 50-50-80 or 50-50-90 or whatever, yeah, so it's like you got to look at that point and he's keeping the Nuggets afloat in the NBA playoff race. So it's like it's just kind of crazy, because I felt like no matter if it's football, basketball, hockey, baseball, it's like the mvp award criteria gets changed every year, it does, and I would just like trying to I'm trying to still understand, like why yeah?
Speaker 1:yeah, we definitely need some more strict criteria on that. But uh, yeah, hopefully we'll get that at some point. But you know it's truly a it's obviously a quarterback award, so we know that's happened many years ago and then I really typically kind of goes to, you know, the quarterback that's on the best team or with the best record and if, if one quarterback has amazing numbers, that kind of have the edge. But yeah, it's kind of drilled down to that but need some some stricter criteria. So, definitely agree on that, man, well, um man, hey, I got one final thing. If we get you out of here, we're going to sign off because we're at our time. But who? Who wins the uh inaugural pick'em pro fantasy football championship? Is it, is it uh david, or is it silas? I'm going with Silas.
Speaker 7:Okay, I think a lot of times. Sometimes, like in sports, sometimes an underdog is better than a favorite.
Speaker 3:Uh-huh.
Speaker 7:And so I think by him scratching his claw and waiting for the finals as a lower seed, kind of like it gives him the edge in this, okay. And four is like fantasy football, like I kind of took this one kind of hard because obviously, you know, I finished in the top three, but it's like I ain't getting the job done. So, yeah, now it's like okay, I'm thinking too much. You know, like I would just be like you know what, let me just like wait a while. But I'm like, nah, like it hurts so much. So I'm like I, I started kind of looking at what do great people do? So I'm like, okay, what did Mahomes do when he lost the Super Bowl? Okay, he watched film. So it's like okay.
Speaker 7:So, like, right now, I probably got like note. I got like a lot of players I'm looking forward to picking next year on my notes, uh-huh. So Are you ready? Yeah, so, like you ready? Yeah, so like it's never too early to plan ahead, it's not. So all I'm saying is for next year, like anybody that I feel like I lost to, that I shouldn't have lost to. It's like, look out, okay, I like it, I love it and hopefully next year I start off at the top and I end at the top.
Speaker 1:Okay, all right. Well, you putting the league on notice. I like that, and that's the way to do it. Years that I've lost, especially if it was earlier. I really did the same thing and tried to pay attention to guys that you know were up and coming and that other people may not be noticing. So that's a great strategy, man. Well, we're out of time, man. We got to let you go. Thanks for being such a big supporter of us, man, and we'll see you again soon.
Speaker 1:We're off next week and we're at Kings for our live show in two weeks, so it'll be a few weeks before we're back here in the studio, but we'll definitely be getting up with you. All right, my man? Okay, all right, thank you, brandon. You too. All right, all right, guys. Well, hey, man, it is about our time. Pleasure to do this with you guys, man.
